You and the Night
A solitary journey opens the narrator to the unexpected.
A writer from Barcelona spends some time at an artists’ residency near New York City. Separated for a few years and with children, he has already learned how to be alone, but now he needs to see the world, renew his perspective, and open himself to the unexpected. He also hopes to distance himself from Barcelona, a city he never fully manages to leave behind. New connections, the cultural mix, and the stimuli of New York allow him to face questions he had avoided until now.
The need to be alone gives way to a curiosity about one of the residents, Sarah, who reveals to him a version of himself that he had been keeping hidden.
