Memory Is You
Original title: La memoria eres tú
Author: Albert Bertran Bas
Fifteen-year-old Homero, an only child of a wealthy family of Barcelona, becomes orphaned during the Spanish Civil War. After his parents pass away, his life becomes a struggle – both internal and external – for survival, loneliness and self-discovery. While doing the impossible in following his father’s track, in his mind the face of a girl is always present. The indomitable Cloe, a farmer who saves his life and will mark it forever. Although both belong to different worlds, their lives tangle at different times and points throughout a decade.
Memory Is You is a unique journey told through the eyes of a boy whom, while trying to discover himself, goes on through Spain’s history crossing personalities such as Robert Capa, Hemingway, Hitler, Machado or the Bella Dorita; witnessing inventions such as table football, some mythical places or historical events such as the meeting between Franco and Hitler. Because knowing one’s history is not the same as walking through it.
