Desirée Baudel

Desirée Baudel is an author with extensive experience across several facets of the publishing industry. She holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from the Universitat de Barcelona and a Master's in Publishing from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. She built a distinguished career in the publishing industry, working with some of Spain's leading publishing houses. For many years, she served as Head of Press for imprints including Alfaguara, Taurus, Aguilar, and Ediciones B, and also worked as an Associate Editor at Lumen and Reservoir Books. Her lifelong commitment to literature has also led her to teaching. She currently balances her writing career with her work as a teacher of Spanish Language and Literature.

She made her fiction debut with Diario de un incendio (Tres Hermanas, 2022), a novel distinguished by its lyrical sensitivity and evocative prose. She later published Ya lo pensaré mañana (Grijalbo, 2025), a novel exploring the complexities of contemporary human experience. Her latest novel, Mi nombre es Celestina (Grijalbo, 2026), imagines the origins of Fernando de Rojas's iconic character, giving voice to the women who lived on the margins of history through a fresh, gender-conscious perspective.
