| Sirisha Herat grew up in Sri Lanka. Her childhood was filled with such post-colonial touches as English-speaking parents, a convent education and cricket matches. After completing her studies at the University of Kelaniya, she received a fellowship from the Swiss Confederation to study French literature at the University of Neuchâtel – where she married an Argentine living in Switzerland. All ‘western oriental gentlemen’ and saree-clad women that love cricket and Shakespeare with the same fervour with which they do the Bhagvad Gita and curry have been her inspiration and are represented in her novel. She presently lives in the US with her husband and three children. |
