Biography Sirisha Herat Sirisha Herat grew up in Sri Lanka. Her childhood was filled with such post-colonial touches as English-speaking parents, a convent education and cricket matches. After completing her studies at the University of Kelaniya, she received a fellowship from the Swiss Confederation to study French literature at the University of Neuchâtel – where she married an Argentine living in Switzerland. All ‘western oriental gentlemen’ and saree-clad women that love cricket and Shakespeare with the same fervour with which they do the Bhagvad Gita and curry have been her inspiration and are represented in her novel.
