Maha Kimberly Akhtar is a contributing editor for Departures Magazine, part of the American Express Publishing Group of Magazines. She is also an editorial columnist for The Times of India, where her column, “The Parallax View”, is published bi-weekly. Ms. Akhtar worked for CBS News until July 2006, where she had been since January 1993. She was promoted to Director, CBS News Communications in 1995. In 2000, Akhtar became Dan Rather’s Chief of Staff. A writer, Akhtar wrote and collaborated with Rather on all of his public speeches and other writings. She wrote and produced his daily radio commentary and collaborated with him on many of his books. Maha Akhtar divides her time between New York City, Seville and Delhi. She speaks six languages.
In addition, Maha Akhtar is a professional flamenco dancer. She currently dances with the Compañía Manuela Carrasco. The Maharani's Hidden Granddaughter is her first book.
